SETI - *Continues* OPENING QUESTIONS: Take another look at the Drake Equation. Change at least 2 of the values such that the result is 100 technological civilizations in our Milky Way Galaxy. OBJECTIVE: I will be able to relate one way that scientists are searching for extraterrestrial intelligence after today's class. WORD FOR TODAY:
WORK O' THE DAY: ═══════════════════════════ A number of us have NOT submitted your OUAP project. That is getting really, really stale. Let's get those in ASAP so I can grade them and get them back to you! Ditto with the Cosmology Unit Test! I'm going to CLOSE both of those at the end of this week so please, please, please take care of those forthwith! ═══════════════════════════ Find a paragraph in your article that you suspect might need some work. Show it to someone in your team and get their feedback! Please change the byline (your name) on the article to some fictional name that you make up. Then please email me that name. When you're finished please make sure that you share that with me AND our Most Gracious and Humble TA Ashley I. We'll get that posted on the wall and we'll have a 'gallery walk'. Work with your team to develop a rubric/evaluation sheet and we'll commence! ═══════════════════════════ Let's revisit Fermi's Paradox again-- I STRONGLY recommend taking notes:
Let's discuss-- Fermi's Paradox has been around since about 1950 so many, many scientists have struggled with it and possible answers have been grouped into a certain number of categories. To Wit: Open chatGpt and begin a conversation with it like this (Feel free to copy and paste this to the wizard): "I'm a high school student in an astronomy class and we are studying Fermi's Paradox. Can you explain that to me briefly? Oh and please don't spew a lot of text at me, I want to have a conversation with you, not a lecture!" Spend a few moments having an actual conversation with chatGpt. A lot of folks don't know just how powerful that program is to help explain or clarify concepts. Treat it like an expert teacher, professor, scientist, whatever. If something seems off or you just don't buy it, call it out and see how it replies (You won't hurt its feelings, honest!) When you are done, copy and paste your conversation into our classroom submittal screen HERE (Fermi's Paradox ChatGpt Conversation) |
